Suspect Who Allegedly Sent Ricin To The White House Arrested

Authorities arrested a woman accused of mailing a ricin-tainted letter to President Donald Trump last week. The woman, who has not been identified, was taken into custody by Customs and Border Protection agents as she crossed the Peace Bridge between Fort Erie, Ontario, and Buffalo, New York.

The ricin-tainted package was detected at an off-site facility that screens and sorts all mail that is addressed to the White House. Federal officials determined the letter was mailed from St. Hubert, Quebec, and they had been working with Canadian authorities to track down the person who sent it.

Investigators also believe the woman may be responsible for mailing other packages to addresses in Texas.

"We are aware of the concerning reports of packages containing ricin directed toward US federal government sites," Mary-Liz Power, chief spokeswoman for Canada's Minister of Public Safety, told CNN. "Canadian law enforcement is working closely with their US counterparts. As this is an active investigation, we cannot comment further."
