Kacey Musgraves Reacts To Meeting Elton John

Kacey Musgraves recently swept the Grammy Awards for her album, ‘Golden Hour.’ Previous to that, she swept in as Sir Elton John’s first female guest on his ‘Elton John Rocket Hour’ radio show.

In a recent interview with Cody Alan, Kacey reflected spending time with the legendary “Rocket Man” himself.

“Elton is one of my favorite people that I have ever met,” proclaimed Kacey. “What do you say to Elton John?” asked Cody.

Since launching his first tour in 1970, the Grammy-winning legend has gone on to be considered one of the most highly acclaimed and successful solo artists of all time achieving 38 gold and 31 platinum or multi-platinum albums.

“Well you talk about everything under the sun because he is, I don’t know, a fireball of energy. He has his finger on the pulse of what is going on in the music industry on all sides of every genre. He’s very in the loop. He’s so smart. He’s so down to earth. He is such a champion of new artists. He’s been a champion of mine which has been unbelievable.”

Can you imagine a day with Elton John? For Kacey, it was a day dream. They spent their time together chatting about music and cherishing true artistry.

“I love when artists look a certain way,” said Kacey. “Maybe look kind of eccentric, like full of rhinestones and crazy sunglasses. I love sunglasses myself, and feathers! Look at Dolly Parton, you know, she dresses to the extreme sometimes, she always has, but at the core, they are really legendary classic songwriters that are so intelligent. I love the juxtaposition of that. He [Elton] has such a way with words, and he is like a human firework. It’s really cool.”

Spoiler Alert: Kacey and Elton must have hit it off. He even gave her a gift.

“It was so unreal. It was so fun. And, he gave me a pair of his Gucci glasses from his closet! He is such a legend.”

Kacey can be heard on Elton’s ‘Restoration: The Songs Of Elton John And Bernie Taupin’ Album, reimagining a stunning rendition of the track “Roy Rogers” which was originally released on Sir Elton John’s Yellow Brick Road Album. Check out the track below.
