Will Carrie Underwood Make First Post-Op Appearance on Idol?

American Idol embraced Carrie Underwood then, and they’re not stopping now.

The show that launched the career of country music’s reigning queen reportedly wants the superstar back to make her first public appearance since her “freak accident” that ended with a broken wrist and a face injury.

A series insider tells HollywoodLife there’s an “open door policy” for Carrie to return to American Idol “anytime [she] would like to visit.”

“The show is not bothered by her injury and how it may affect her look,” the insider says, “and would love for her to perform, mentor or even give a message throughout the season if she wanted to be a part in any way.”

According to Carrie, a surgery that resulted in 40 to 50 stitches in her face left “much uncertainty as to how things will end up.” The procedure was needed due to a fall the AMA Favorite Country Female Artist suffered at her home in Nashville last November.

The Idol source goes on to say the show “would not be using her injury as a ratings boost in any way.”

“They would want her because the history she provides the show…. They just want the best for her and would love her to be around if she would like to be around because they support her 100 percent,” the source says.

American Idol returns with judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie this March on ABC.
