Blake Shelton wins again.
The country star’s team claimed another victory Tuesday night (Dec. 19) when artist Chloe Kohanski beat out her fellow finalists for the title of season 13 champion of The Voice.
Blake further secures his status as the winningest coach on the NBC singing competition now with a record-setting six total wins.
But Chloe almost wasn’t “Team Blake” at all. The 23-year-old Nashville native was originally a contestant on coach Miley Cyrus’ team but landed on BS’s team in the knockout rounds.
“Jennifer and Blake pushed their buttons to try to steal me, and instantly I was like, ‘I’m from Nashville, I got Southern roots,’” she tells People. “Blake looked at me and he was like, ‘Do you like to win?’ Him saying that, I was like, ‘He believes that I could win,’ so then I picked him. I think it’s a really weird yin-yang pairing, and he just lets me do my thing.”
Performance highlights from Chloe’s time on The Voice include her renditions of rock hits like Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and Blondie’s “Call Me.” She was paired with Billy Idol during the finale to perform “White Wedding.”
