Garth Brooks Nabs First No. 1 in 10 Years

It’s been a banner year in a banner career for Garth Brooks.

The country legend has officially scored his first No. 1 in ten years this week with “Ask Me How I Know.”

The song, which was written by up-and-coming artist/songwriter Mitch Rossell, earns Garth the 20th No.1 song of his career. He last appeared at the top of the Billboard Country Airplay Chart in 2007 with “More Than A Memory.”

“I’m so proud of the Pearl Records team for working so hard for this No. 1,” Garth says. “Congrats to Mitch Rossell on his first cut—so happy for you, pal! And, to country radio: four decades later, thanks for still believing. I’m humbled and very grateful.”

The accolade comes upon the 28th anniversary of Garth’s very first No.1 for “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” which peaked at No.1 on Dec. 9, 1989.

Garth also nabs his 17th No.1 album on the Top Country Albums this week with The Anthology: Part 1, The First Five Years.

He wraps his three-year world tour with wife Trisha Yearwood with seven shows at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, beginning Saturday, Dec. 9.
