The New York City mayoral election could have gone to a famous name.
According to the city’s Board of Elections, Taylor Swift’s name was written in by many New Yorkers who turned out to vote.
In fact, the organization reports that despite smaller voter turnout in 2017, there were more write-in votes this year than ever before.
In addition to Taylor Swift, other citizens voted for Barbra Streisand, Rihanna, Howard Stern, Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga, Nicholas Cage, Seth Meyers, Tom Hanks, Stephen Colbert and even the late David Bowie.
None of the famous candidates received enough votes to beat incumbent candidate Mayor Bill DeBlasio, who won a second term in the election.
