Blake Shelton To Garth Brooks: 'I Still Love You'

Blake Shelton has nothing but #respect for Garth Brooks.

The Voice coach has inserted himself into the country controversy surrounding Garth’s decision to lip-sync at the recent CMA Awards by taking to Twitter to express his support for the six-time CMA Entertainer of the Year.

“Hey @garthbrooks... I still love you. #hero #respect,” Blake wrote on Twitter.

The “I’ll Name the Dogs” singer’s reaction comes after Garth received criticism from Blake’s ex-wife Miranda Lambert and her boyfriend Anderson East, who wrote he was offended by Garth’s lip-sync of “Ask Me How I Know” during the 51st annual event on Wednesday (Nov. 8).

“I keep a lot of my opinions to myself and respect anyone making music,” Anderson wrote on social media on Thursday, “but as a person who tries to put on the best and most honest show I can night after night... this truly offends me. I was told country music was three chords and the truth.”

Miranda later supported her boyfriend by commenting on his post, writing “if you can’t sing then don’t.”

“It’s better to be honest than to pretend,” she added. “I think it’s bull shit. My favorite performances in the show were live live. The truth.”

Garth was battling a sickness at the CMAs and told press backstage after the show his decision to not sing live was a “game-time call” in order to “represent country music as best [as he] can.”
