Sugarland Teases Reunion on CMA Awards

Something’s up down in Sugarland.

The five-time CMA Vocal Duo of the Year made a surprise appearance Wednesday night (Nov. 8) on the 51st Annual CMA Awards to present the award they claimed from 2007-2011.

But it was another announcement that shocked fans watching in the audience and at home.

“Well funny seeing you here,” Jennifer Nettles said to bandmate Kristian Bush, who replied, “It feels like we’ve been here before, right?”

Added Jennifer in tease-worthy fashion. “That’s true. In fact, we’re here to present the CMA Award we won together in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011... and well, who knows?”

Following their trophy presentation to now two-time winner Brothers Osborne, Sugarland elicited more fan reaction when the tweeted “#StillTheSame” along with a photo of themselves at the ceremony.

Will the pair reunite for their first new music in more than seven years?

Jennifer and Kristian went their separate ways in 2013 to pursue solo projects. Kristian dropped the hit single “Trailer Hitch” and produced a number of artists’ projects, while Jennifer dropped two solo albums, starred in Chicago on Broadway and earned rave reviews in her role as Dolly Parton’s mother in both the Coat of Many Colors and Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love TV movies on NBC.
