Maren Morris' 'Dear Hate' Hits No. 1

Maren Morris’ musical response to the deadly attack in Las Vegas is striking a chord.

“Dear Hate,” a song the country star wrote three years ago and released in the wake of the tragedy, has reached the top spot on the all-genre iTunes chart.

“So honored. Thank you for supporting the cause through music,” Maren writes on Instagram.

The proceeds from “Dear Hate,” which Maren released on iTunes after an overwhelming response to the song on Monday (Oct. 2), benefit the Music City Cares Fund, established by the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

One-hundred percent of the donations made to the Music City Cares Fund “goes to Las Vegas to help with the immediate and long-term needs of victims in the shooting.”

The shooting claimed the lives of 58 people and injured another 527.
