Route 91 Festival: More Than 50 Dead & 500 Injured in Mass Shooting

Updated -- Monday (Oct. 2) at 12:31 P.M. ET

More than 50 people were killed and more than 500 were injured in a mass shooting on Sunday (Oct. 1) at the Route 91 Music Festival in Las Vegas.

According to reports, Jason Aldean was performing the fifth song of his closing set when gunman Stephen Paddock, 64, began firing toward the festival from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino.

In a video posted on Twitter, Jason is seen running from stage as "hundreds" of shots began, according to CNN. He, his band and wife Brittany escaped injury.

The suspect has been killed. Authorities originally named another "person of interest," believed to be Paddock’s companion Marilou Danley, 62, but say she is no longer believed to be involved in the shooting.

The incident is being described as the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
