CMT Artists of the Year is making history with a history-making smash!
The 2017 year-end event, which honorees the artists who have dominated the last 12 months in country music, has announced it will present its first-ever “Song of the Year” award to Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road.”
The earworm track has shattered the record for the most consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. “Body Like A Back Road” is also the No. 1 most-downloaded country song of 2017 and the No. 1 most-streamed country song of 2017.
In addition to “Body Like a Back Road,” CMT will also celebrate Chris Stapleton, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban and Luke Bryan as its five honorees of the year.
The 90-minute special will honor the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma and champion the many volunteers contributing to the ongoing rescue and recovery efforts.
The 2017 CMT Artists of the Year premieres October 18 at 8/7c live from Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center only on CMT.
