Shania Twain’s 1997 smash hit “That Don’t Impress Me Much” famously references Brad Pitt, and the global superstar has never revealed why she name-dropped the actor.

During a recent chat with Billboard at Spotify HQ in New York City, Shania reveals the inspiration behind the song.
“I remember I had a girlfriend visiting me and it was near Christmas and we were baking cookies,” she says. “I was writing this album and there was a scandal of [Brad Pitt] and Gwyneth [Paltrow] where there was naked photos of him. And this was like, all the rage. I just thought, ‘I don’t know what all the fuss is about.’ I’m like, ‘Well, that don’t impress me much, I mean what is all the fuss?’”

Shania is set to release Shania Now, her first album in 15 years, this September.
