Dolly Parton, Blake Shelton & More React to Glen Campbell's Death

posted by Dustin Stout -

The world has lost one of its greatest entertainers.

Glen Campbell passed away Tuesday (8/8) after a battle with Alzheimer's disease, and country music and the world of entertainment came together to offer condolences to his family.

Dolly Parton, Blake Shelton and Tim McGraw as well as Kathy Lee Gifford, Ellen DeGeneres, Senator John McCain and more each took to social media to react to the loss.

When I was a little girl I told everybody I was gonna grow up and marry Glen Campbell. I'm so glad my dad had all his records. (& 8 tracks) I learned so much from listening to him. @glencampbellofficial

When I was a kid, I wanted cool hair like Glen. Thank you for all your music and all the amazing songs you played on. Good Vibrations, God Only Knows just to name a few. Adios Pal, you will be missed. #RIPGlenCampbell

Glenn Campbell.. You were one of my biggest influences of all time. Your sense and ear for music could never be recreated! You were truly one of a kind! Rest In Peace and may God watch over your family thru all of this. #witchitalineman #rhinestonecowboy

Mr. Campbell released a string of hits in his more than 50-year career, including “Gentle on My Mind,” “Galveston” and “Rhinestone Cowboy.” Also known as an actor and TV host, the country great hosted The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour on CBS from 1969-1972.

Most recently, I’ll Be Me, a 2014 documentary, chronicled Mr. Campbell’s farewell tour and struggle with Alzheimer’s.

He was 81.
