Joe Nichols on Working with Sir Mix-a-Lot: 'It was Incredible'

Joe Nichols likes Sir Mix-a-Lot, and he cannot lie.

The country traditionalist covers the rap legend’s “Baby Got Back” on his new album Never Gets Old and even collaborates alongside him in a new video for the song!

In an exclusive interview with CMT’s Cody Alan, Joe recalls what it was like working with Sir Mix-a-Lot.

“It was incredible. He was so nice and super animated,” he says of the music icon. “He cussed a lot. He kind of made me feel at home. He was super nice and great about it. Anything they wanted him to do he was in for.”

In the video, Sir Mix-a-Lot severs as a judge for artists delivering odd covers of the song. When Joe walks in and performs his version, Sir Mix-a-Lot is sold!

The original “Baby Got  Back” celebrated its 25th anniversary in May. Pick up Joe's new version on Never Gets Old--available now.
