CMT Instant Jam: Brett Eldredge

Brett Eldredge is a songwriter who can make his mom cry, but he’s no felon.

The country star reveals in a new interview with which song on his self-titled new album made his mom emotional and why it left her with questions of Brett’s criminal activity.

“My mom loves the song ‘Brother’ especially because it’s about my brother,” he says. “She had all these questions, like, ‘Did you really go to jail?’ Because there’s a line about, ‘You were my first call that night in jail, when you rushed in to pay my bail.’ And I never went to jail and he never went... We did have wild times and all that but nothing that would have me end up in jail or anything. We’re just really close. And so my mom loves that. She definitely [got teary] on that.”

While the release of Brett’s album is still one week away, the “Somethin’ I’m Good At Singer” has already released four songs in addition to his current single.

Brett Eldredge drops everywhere August 4.
