Ryan Seacrest Will Host the American Idol Reboot

American Idol may be getting made over on ABC, but its face needs no update.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Seacrest has officially been tapped to host the revival of the historic series.

The longtime Idol host reportedly struggled with the decision to return or not, even initially withdrawing his name from any involvement with the show. But ultimately, he decided, “Who am I if not the American Idol guy?”

Word is Ryan is getting a $10 million paycheck to host the reboot and an executive-producer title. Kelly Ripa’s new Live! co-host is even said to have “huddled” with Katy Perry to convince her to sign on as the Idol’s anchor judge.

THR confirms the new American Idol will air on Sunday nights, allowing Ryan time fly back to New York City for Live! With Kelly and Ryan on Monday morning.

Look for it on ABC in Spring 2018.
