A city in Europe has banned "manspreading" on its public transportation.
The new rule in Madrid, Spain, prohibits passengers from spreading his or her legs in an effort to save space on La Empresa Municipal de Transportes (EMT), the city's public transportation system
Madrid's gender and diversity policy group worked with EMT on the creation of the rule, which came from a proposal made by the Madrid women and mothers group, Mujeres en Lucha y Madres Estresadas.
A sign will enforce the rule and will be posted along with others, including not putting feet on seats, using headphones and not smoking.
