Keith Urban on Return to Idol: 'There's A Lot of Moving Parts'

As the world prepares to say hello to American Idol again, will it also say hello to one of its former judges?

For the first-time ever, Keith Urban speaks candidly about the idea of returning to ABC’s reboot of the singing competition in a new interview with CMT’s Cody Alan.

Explaining anything he does must be “music centric” and “have a music connection,” the country star exclusively reveals he would “possibly” consider judging Idol again. 

“There’s a lot of moving parts,” “The Fighter” singer tells Cody. “That’s a good political answer, isn’t it? But it’s also quite true of the state of it right now. There’s a lot of moving parts in everybody’s camps. We’ll see what happens.”

Keith first judged American Idol in 2012 alongside Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. He then remained a judge from 2013 to 2016 with Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr,. by his side.

Katy Perry is so far the only confirmed judge to participate in ABC’s revival of the historic series.
