She reveals to CMT’s Cody Alan in an exclusive interview why she’s “excited to share the next chapter” of her story.
“I wrote [‘Legends’] about a breakup, and now it is so not about a breakup for me anymore,” Kelsea says. “I wrote it in this nostalgic point of view, kind of reflecting on something that was beautiful at one time. And now listening to it being so far past the breakup, it’s now kind of about my fans and it’s about my fiancé and it’s about all these different things you can look back on and find a lot of beauty in. It’s not even necessarily a breakup song for me anymore. It’s kind of all these different things, which is awesome.”

The singer also reveals “Legends” is only the first taste of new music she’ll be dropping in the next few months. More new music will “come out in a couple of different phases,” exclusively revealing she’ll release two addition songs in August.
Watch Kelsea perform “Legends” tonight (6/7) on the CMT Music Awards, airing live from Nashville at 8.7c on CMT.
