Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren Akins are officially parents.
The couple announced Friday (5/12) that they have welcomed daughter Willa Gray Akins home after a long adoption process in Africa.
"Meet Willa Gray Akins," Thomas wrote on Twitter. "I can't believe our daughter is finally home Thank you to everyone who prayed every single day for this sweet girl."
Thomas and Lauren began the adoption process in 2016 after an unsuccessful attempt at having a baby on their own. A few months later, they discovered Lauren was also pregnant.
“When we began the adoption process, we said, ‘Let’s wait, let’s give this adopted child his or her time with us and then we’ll continue our family,’ ” Lauren told People earlier this year. “So I was convinced it was food poisoning.”
Little Akins #2, which will also be a girl, is due in August.
