Miley Cyrus Doesn't Want Country Fans To Be Afraid of Her

At the end of the day, Miley Cyrus is country.

Billy Ray Cyrus’s daughter has been on a rollercoaster ride of figuring out who she really is since she shot to fame in 2006, but in a new interview with Billboard, she reveals her journey is leading her home to Nashville.

“[Country] fans don’t really take me seriously as a country artist. One, I haven’t given them that music,” she says. “But I’ve got a tattoo of Johnny Cash’s autograph that he gave me when I was a little girl that says, ‘I’m in your corner.’ Dolly Parton is my ... godmother. The fact that country music fans are scared of me, that hurts me.... I’m evolving, and I surround myself with smart people that are evolved.”

Miley’s forthcoming new music will showcase her country roots, and her Still the King actor dad recognizes that.
