Tim McGraw Was Not a 'Happy Person' with Little Big Town

Happy people don’t hate, but Tim McGraw was on the verge backstage at a recent awards show.

Little Big Town’s Jimi Westbrook tells Billboard that Tim had a bone to pick with the country group over their new song “Happy People” during a backstage run-in at the ACM Awards.

“I was strolling off, and Tim McGraw is standing there, and he was like, ‘Damn you. I wanted that song,’” Jimi says.

Little Big Town called dibs on the song written by Nashville favorite Lori McKenna, who also happed to write Tim’s latest Song of the Year smash “Humble and Kind.”

“And I said, ‘You got the last one, buddy. We’re even,’” he goes on to say.

“Happy People” tells a timely message, Jimi says, that reminds every one of the golden rule.
