Miranda Lambert’s got a glass-half-full kind of attitude these days.

The eight-time ACM Female Vocalist of the Year shares her positive perspective on facing life’s struggles in a new interview with CMT’s Cody Alan.

“I feel like sometimes when you think everything’s sort of tilted on its side,” Miranda says exclusively, “then something else comes in and shows you the reason that that might be happening—whether it’s a person or a situation. When stuff gets a little ... tilted is the word I’m using, [it] sort of opens your mind because you’re not as guarded, just head down doing the grindstone. When something shakes you up, you’re more open to other possibilities.” 

The “Tin Man” singer used the curveballs life threw her to write her latest album The Weight of These Wings.

Miranda spoke about the ups and downs that informed the ACM Album of the Year earlier this month backstage at the ACM Awards.

“To me, country music is about truth and about what’s really going on—whether it’s happy or sad or somewhere in the middle,” she said at the time. “For me in these past couple of years, it’s happened to be a little more sad than happy. Now it’s moving to another direction, but I’m really glad that people can relate to an emotion like that.”
