Exclusive: Darius Rucker On Playing the Bad Guy on 'Hawaii 5-0'

Darius Rucker’s country charm was not on display during his recent cameo on Hawaii 5-0.

The country star, who appeared on the CBS drama this past Friday night, exclusively tells Cody why he asked to play Desmond Abati, a notorious criminal who makes bombs.

“They asked me to do the show. The producer and I were talking. He said, ‘Do you want to play yourself or do you wanna play a good guy?’ I said, ‘I want to play an awful dude,’” Darius says. “I actually said to him, ‘I want to play a terrorist.’ He said no one ever wants to be a bad guy. I want to be a bad guy. They made me a real bad guy. It was fun. I got to shoot some people.”

The “Alright” singer may not be finished acting yet. He says he absolutely would act again in the future in presented the chance.

For now, Darius is gearing up to release a new album. The project’s first single “If I Told You” is at country radio now.

Hawaii 5-0 airs Fridays on CBS.
