The first-time nominee and soon-to-be first-time daddy tells People magazine wife Lauren Akins hid her pregnancy bump under her skirt last Sunday at “Music’s Biggest Night” and “had saltines in her clutch” just in case her sickness decided to rear its ugly head on the red carpet.

“I’ve been so sick,” Lauren says of her first pregnancy, which had not yet been announced at the big show. “On our way to the Grammys, Thomas Rhett was like, ‘Honey, you look beautiful’ and I had this look on my face and he was like, ‘Do you feel sick?’ I was like, ‘Yeah—and I’m just praying I’m not about to throw up again before we go on the red carpet!’”
So when the time came to unveil the couple’s baby news this week, Thomas and Lauren were ecstatic to reveal the secret.
