Shania Twain Calls New Music More Organic, Less Poppy

Come on over to a new Shania Twain.

Country music’s top-selling female artist is set to release her first album in 15 years this spring, but she reveals fans shouldn’t expect her new project to sound anything like the music that made her famous in the 90s.

“I’m a different singer now,” Shaina tells Rolling Stone. “There was a lot of coming to terms with that. It’s been one of the obstacles in my life I’ve just had to learn to live with.”

She also says divorcing ex-husband and former songwriting partner Mutt Lang changed her approach to music making.

“I told anyone getting involved musically to forget about my other records,” the “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” singer adds. “I didn’t want it to be related to Mutt’s productions at all. I wanted a more organic approach.”

Shania plans to release a single from the new project in March and then drop the album in May.
