The Akins household is about to get a new "Star of the Show." Or two.
Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren Akins have announced they are not only expecting but also adopting a child from Africa.
"We are so happy to announce that we are pregnant and we are in the process of adopting a child from Africa! Safe to say life is about to get crazy," Thomas captioned a photo on Instagram.
Lauren also shared her excitement on social media, adding she and TR are "exploding with happiness."
"OH BABY! actually...BABIES! Our hearts are exploding with happiness for y'all to meet our new baby who we are bringing home from Africa soon ... who is also going to have a little brother or sister because, SURPRISE! there's a sweet baby in my belly too," she wrote.
Lauren, who has taken trips mission trips to Uganda, Honduras and more, has been a longtime advocate of 147 Million Orphans, a charity that provides critical needs to the children impacted by the orphan crisis and living in poverty all over the world. Thomas raised $250,000 for the organization at a sold-out benefit dinner and concert this past October with Dierks Bentley and Florida Georgia Line.
