The Band Perry fans are in the dark no longer.
After some professional ups and downs within the last few years, the sibling trio has announced they are, in fact, going pop.
Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry took to social media Thursday night (2/2) to drop their new single, “Stay In the Dark,” from their forthcoming album My Bad Imagination.
“If there’s one thing we’ve learned in making it it’s this—being yourself matters,” the band wrote. “It matters even when not everyone agrees that you should be or understands why it’s important that you are.”
The news comes after TBP released “Comeback Kid” in August of 2016 in response to rumors then that the band was headed in a pop direction.
While they originally denied the claims, the “If I Die Young” singers told Cody at the time their goal was to give fans “the music [they] want them to hear from The Band Perry.”
“Everybody has a different opinion about [music], right? But ultimately, at the end of our career, I want to look back and [say] we did what we did—whatever that looks like—based on our decisions,” Kimberly said exclusively.
No official word on a release date for My Bad Imagination just yet.
