Dolly Parton Provides Comic Relief at 'SAG Awards'

Dolly Parton’s funny assets were on display at the SAG Awards.

The country legend to the stage at Los Angeles’s Shrine Auditorium Sunday night to present her friend Lily Tomlin with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

But the famous crowd saw Dolly’s comedic achievements first.

“Greetings from Dollywood, Hollywood,” she began. “I’m really so glad to be here tonight because this is the SAG Awards, the highest honor you can get. It’s going to be given to my 9 to 5 buddy, Miss Lily Tomlin. I might say Lily is getting an award for something I’ve spent my whole life trying to avoid, a sag award,” Dolly deadpanned. “I see something sagging, I’m calling Dr. Markowitz to say get that nipped, tucked, and stuffed right away.”

The “Coat of Many Colors” singer went on to mention Lily’s personal and professional achievements, listing many causes that are close to her 1980 co-star’s heart.

“People have wanted another 9 to 5, but I think we’d have to call it 95,” Dolly joked.

Jane Fonda was originally scheduled to appear alongside Dolly but was unable to attend due to illness.
