Matthew McConaughey Says Kenny Chesney Is A Good Texter

When we think of celebrity friendships, some people immediately come to mind. Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan? A match made in humorous and harmonious heaven. Kelsea Ballerini and Halsey? It’s the country-pop collaboration that doesn’t surprise us.

But Matthew McConaughey and Kenny Chesney? Yup, you read that combination right.

In a recent interview with Matthew, the actor tells Cody Alan that his friendship with Kenny is better than “Alright, alright, alright.”

“I’ve got a feeling that I may have met him at a Saints game or somewhere around there, and then we just remained friends,” says Matthew. “Drew Breeze and I used to have a show down there at the House of Blues in New Orleans every year, and Kenny would always come and play. So, we grew our friendship there.”

“He stepped in and helped me with a guy that I was producing. Mishka, a reggae artist, [Kenny] stepped in and helped me produce and work on a couple of songs with him, and he has just remained a damn good friend,” reveals the actor. “Whenever I need something, or whenever I don’t need something, throughout the years. We have had a few good late nights writing some pretty interesting lyrics that maybe we have forgotten already.”

The twosome may have a few staples of friendship that bind them together, like rooting for The Saints and playing live music. They continue to develop their brotherhood and connection through a lot of text messages.

“He texts me,” laughs Matthew. “You know, one of my life mottos is “Just Keep Living.” He’ll text me a “Just Keep Living” moment from someplace on the globe that he is, and I am like, “YEP! You are LIVING, sir!”
