In a recent interview with Cody Alan, Luke had some thoughts on the matter and was ready to defend himself.
“Well, I mean, it’s like, if anybody wants to make fun of me for being in my Jockeys, then maybe that just need to call my accountant,” laughs the “Down To One” singer.
“I’ll tell you what, I mean. First of all, you are going to wear underwear. Right? Unless…well, there’s some people out there doing some hefty freeballing,” teases the singer. “But, no, the Jockey partnership, when I learned about the company and the values of the company. I mean, it’s a 144-year-old company, and it just felt right.”
Luke makes a valid point, being the face for an underwear commercial should only be accepted if they “feel right.”
“I have been in wonderful partnerships through the years, and I have been in partnerships where they just wanted to put my face out there and there was really no real emotional connection. With Jockey, I mean, we are having fun planning stuff together, and we hope to have a really long future together as a partnership,” Luke reveals.
“And the fact that I can be in the commercials with Caroline. I mean, she impressed the hell out of me,” continues Luke. “She did a great job being an actress, and we had a lot of fun on set.”
Luke isn’t prepared to bear it all, though.
“When we are shooting the Jockey ads, obviously, I knew that it would probably be me in jeans and a t-shirt. I am not quite ready to lay it all out there in just, um, the undies,” laughs the superstar. “But when it makes it to the super bowl, it’s pretty mind-boggling.”
