Just a small-town girl, living in a chilly world, Tenille Arts hails from the prairie town of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Her big dreams of moving to Nashville to pursue a career in country music began at 8-years-old when a neighbor overheard her singing a Shania Twain cover and reported to her mother that the young girl could be a star.
In a recent interview with Cody Alan, Tenille retold the story which led her to Nashville.
“I was 8 or 9 years old,” says the “Somebody Like That” singer. “It was a long, long, time ago, and I was always singing everywhere I went. If I was outside playing in the back yard, I was probably singing while I was doing it.”
“My neighbor was outside, and she overheard me singing,” laughs Tenille. “I think she said it was a Shania Twain song, like, “Man I Feel Like A Woman.” Something really inappropriate for a little girl to be singing.”

“[My neighbor] came over and told my mom that she thought I had a really great voice, and thankfully my mom asked me if that was something that I wanted to do, and I was all for it!” shares the songstress. “She put me in voice lessons! I trained classically for 10 years and started singing country in the middle of all that. So, I owe a lot to my neighbor.”
