How Kip Moore Stays True To Himself When Navigating Tricky Situations

Kip Moore’s newest single, “Don’t Go Changing,” might be the most appropriate song for 2020.

So, how does the country star stay genuinely true to himself even when navigating the tricky politics found music business? Cody Alan asked the sensitive question that Kip says he has never had to answer before.

“Golly, you are the first person who has ever asked that in my whole career!” says Kip. “I don’t feel like I have ever had to alter who I am. I truly don’t, and I think that has cost me a little bit. If we are honest. You know, I look at things like you take ‘Wild World’ it made every list. It might be on the top for record of the year, and then I won’t even be on the ballot for things.”

Kip hasn’t seen his name on an award show ballet since 2014. However, his songs and albums speak for themselves and come highly celebrated and decorated by country radio and listeners.

“I think that sometimes there have been situations where I said some things to people that I shouldn’t have said, or that I should have said. But, the friendships that I have made have been real. I don’t think that there has ever been any smoke and mirrors with me,” says the “She’s Mine” singer.

“I think that people kind of know where I stand, and a lot of times my intensity can be taken for different things,” says the “Beer Money” singer. “Maybe if I didn’t play along with a certain game, it may have cost me at times. When I didn’t do the song and dance, it might have nipped me in the bud a little bit as far as moving my commercial appeal forward.”

“You know there have been times where I have been offered to team up with somebody that could have got me a chance on a show, and I have said “No,” because it didn’t make any sense to me. So, you know, some people will call that just me being defiant and stubborn, but I truly don’t feel like I am that way. I just try and be honest with what I feel inside,” Kip says genuinely.

“I’ve always gotten along well with you, and I feel like that’s a real thing,” says Kip. “I don’t feel like I have to be a certain way, and I don’t feel like you have to be a certain way around me. I just enjoy talking to you. So, I don’t feel like I have had to do that game, and I certainly feel like the friendships have been real.”
