There's nothing like watching a truly scary movie, especially during spooky season. Broadband Choices set out to discover what the scariest movies of all time are, according to science. The team at Broadband Choices studied critic's lists and Reddit recommendations to curate 50 of the best horror films ever made, before subjecting them to their test subjects. The subjects watched each movie in 5.1 surround sound and consumed over 120 hours of the most terrifying horror movies out there. Each viewer was fitted with a heart rate monitor to measure which movies got their blood pumping the most to find the ultimate horror movie. Here's what they discovered:

The study also discovered a few other interesting facts about your favorite horror films. Insidious had the biggest jump scares by heart rate, while Sinister and The Exorcist 3 followed close behind. The Conjuring and The Descent rounded out the top 5 for biggest jump scares by heart rate. The highest heart rate during a viewing of Sinister was 131 beats per minute.
