Lauryn's List: Country Music Stars Share Their Haunting Experiences

Sometimes, we use the word "haunting" to describe our favorite country songs, but have our favorite country stars ever experienced paranormal activity? Halloween is quickly approaching, which means it's time to share some tales from the country music crypt.

Lauryn Snapp loves a good spooky story. Here are four of her favorite ghost stories to get you in the haunting spirit.

"Achy Breaky Haunt"

Paramount Art Center is one of Kentucky's most famous haunted landmarks. According to legend and staff members, Billy Ray Cyrus once became friends with the resident spook "Paramount Joe" while filming a video. After the video shoot ended, Billy Ray signed a poster and left it behind for his newfound friend. Years later, when the poster was removed, Paramount Joe went on a rampage, ripping down other photos and posters from the wall of fame. The staff at Paramount Art Center restored the poster to a position of prominence. Paramount Joe has since not tried his hand at re-decorating.

"Elvis Has Not Left The Building"

He may be known as "The King" of Rock and Roll, but Elvis' first love was always country music. His Memphis home famously known as 'Graceland,' is thought to be haunted by Elvis' mother, but eyewitness reports also say that Elvis hasn't left the building. Witnesses claimed to have spotted Elvis looking out the window of his estate. The King's ex-wife, Priscilla, has openly shared that she has felt the spirit of Elvis's mom, Gladys who apparently hugged her while she was in the attic one dark and stormy, and lonesome night.

"Nashville's Good Spirits Found In Haunted HonkyTonk"

Pull up a barstool at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, and legend has it that you might spot the ghost of Patsy Cline. Hank Williams was also a frequent patron who keeps frequenting the tourist hot spot. Hattie "Tootsie" Bess, who once owned the bar, was known for her kindness and generosity toward struggling country musicians, is also said to make an appearance. And the convenient alley that connects Tootsies with the Ryman? Ghosts of country legends reportedly stalk that dark street, too.

"Sacred and Scary Ground"

The Ryman Auditorium is Known by locals as ‘Mother Church of Country Music,” and it may be the Mother Haunted House of Country Music, too. Shockingly, at least one of the many ghosts that haunt the auditorium is not a fan of country music. Thomas Ryman, the prominent businessman who built the Ryman as a megachurch, isn't happy that secular music is performed at his church. The spirit of his ghostly gray figure has been seen walking through the halls and heard causing a ruckus in supposedly empty rooms.
