Dunkin's latest menu item is scary good.
On Wednesday (October 14), Dunkin' announced its adding 'Boo It Yourself' donut decorating kits to menus to celebrate Halloween. Each DIY decorating kit will feature plain yeast or Old Fashioned cake donuts, with pre-packaged icing in orange, white, and black varieties, and three sprinkle blends. The Halloween DIY Dunkin’ Donut Decorating Kits are available for purchase in two sizes, small—aka 4 donuts—and large—aka 9 donuts.
According to a press release, Dunkin' decided to release these adorable 'Boo It Yourself' kits because so many Halloween traditions, like trick-or-treating and costume parties, have been "disrupted in many communities across the country" due to the ongoing pandemic. Dunkin’ wants to give its customers "a special treat that can be enjoyed from the comfort of home."
The 'Boo It Yourself' kits aren't the only fun Halloween-themed menu items Dunkin' rolled out this year, either. The "creepy-crawly" Spider Donut is back on Dunkin’ menus, as well. The Spider Donut features a classic ring donut with orange icing, topped with aglazed chocolate munchkins donut hole treat, chocolate drizzle for the spider legs, and white icing for the eyes to create the eight-legged donut creature.
The big headliner at Dunkin' this year, though, is the Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut. This hot new item is a classic yeast donut ring, topped with a strawberry flavored icing that features "a bold blend of cayenne and ghost pepper, and finished with red sanding sugar for a sizzling look," according to a press release.
“Halloween looks a little different this year, and so do our donuts. While our classic bakery offering has plenty of crave-worthy treats, we’re excited to show our spicy side with a donut that packs a touch of heat with something sweet and can be enjoyed any time of day,”Jill Nelson, Vice President, Marketing Strategy at Dunkin', said in a statement.“With our scary-good lineup of the Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut, Halloween DIY Dunkin’ Donut Decorating Kits, and fan-favorite Spider Donut, Dunkin’ is here to help our guests keep their Halloween spirit alive this season.”
This year’s Halloween lineup will only be available at participating Dunkin’ restaurants for a limited time only, while supplies last. Which spooky menu item will you be trying out this year?
