Kacey Musgraves is up for “ACM Artist of the Year” at the 2020 ACM Awards broadcasting Sept. 16th at 8 pm E.T. on CBS.
The “Rainbow” singer recently joined Cody Alan to share what moment she considers her "big break."
“Hearing your song on the radio for the first time is a turning point for your career,” says Kacey referring to her 2012 single “Merry Go Round.”
From a young age, Kacey was gunning for fame. At 18 years old, the country star auditioned and landed a spot on the talent-based discovery television show, “Nashville Star.” See her performance by clicking the video below.
“I was on Nashville Star for like a hot minute. I thought to myself, this is my big chance. This is my big break. Everyone is going to know who I am! But, I was like the third one voted off the show, and its fine. I’m really glad no one saw more than that. I needed to go figure myself out, but I got a peek into the industry. I got to know a lot of people, and it made me want to start coming back to Nashville from Austin. I would come all of the time, almost every month, and then I was like, “Why don’t I just live here? So it helped me out in a lot of ways.”
