Maya Rudolph Reacts To Kamala Harris VP Pick: 'Thrilled' To Go Back To SNL

Maya Rudolph was nominated for an Emmy earlier this month for her portrayal of Senator Kamala Harris on Saturday Night Live. Following the announcement that Senator Harris' will be serving as Joe Biden's running mate, Rudolph shared her excitement about Harris' run for Vice President and a potential return to SNL to portray the California Senator.

While sitting on a panel for Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday (August 11), Rudolph learned the news of Harris' appointment. “Oh s**t,” she exclaimed, according to the outlet. "Somebody's gonna be very busy now," Wanda Sykes, who was also on the virtual panel, chimed in.

When asked if she will return to SNL to reprise her role as Harris, Rudolph had nothing but positive things to say about her experience with the sketch show and playing the Vice President nominee. "I love going to the show. Any excuse I can get, I love. I just didn't really anticipate traveling during a pandemic, but if there's anyone that can work it out I'm sure Lorne [Michaels] has some sort of invisible helicopter that can get me there," Rudolph said.

"Ever since I was a kid, truly, I wanted to be on any kind of SCTV, Saturday Night Live, and I can't believe that I got to work there, and I can't believe that it's my family still," she continued. "I'm so thrilled to even be associated with the show and that I got to go back. It's like the gift that keeps on giving. Honestly, it's my favorite place to play."

"I'm as surprised as you are, guys. That's spicy," she also said upon hearing the big news. "I don't know that I'm ready to go right this minute, but it's so nice to have this nomination be associated with the show because it's my true love."
