Thomas Rhett Says He's Written Nearly 40 Songs During Quarantine

At this time, live shows are not an option due to the coronavirus pandemic, but that's not stopping artists like Thomas Rhett from entertaining fans. The country star has been keeping himself busy during quarantine writing new songs and even sharing a few with fans.

In a recent interview with his record label, Rhett revealed that he's written nearly 40 songs over the last few weeks.

"During quarantine, I mean it’s been 60 something days, I’d probably say I’ve written 35 to 40 songs," he said. "I just feel like any kind of change in life can spark a new idea, and especially the same for your co-writers, because they’re going through the same stuff too."

Rhett continues on to explain how new ideas for songs have been consistently coming to him. "There's definitely no shortage of ideas during this time and I do feel very creative," he adds.

It sounds like a new album could potentially be coming soon for Rhett. Most recently, he debuted a new song called, "Slow Down Summer." The track finds Rhett singing about a summer love he didn't want to end.

"We had our hopes up and windows down, fallin' fast in a one lane town, tangled up with your lips on mine, never seen a brighter green in those eyes," he sings. "And I put my jacket on your shoulder, wishing the weather wasn't getting colder, letting you go holding on to each other, closing our eyes saying slow down summer."

"Slow Down Summer" was shared just days after the country star introduced fans to the stirring song, "Want It Again," which finds Rhett telling the story of a man who always hoped a love from the past would eventually come back to him.

"Oh, I hope one day you'll find your way back into my arms," Rhett sings in the first chorus. "So girl I'll put this heart of mine somewhere good and safe incase you want it again someday."

Additionally, Rhett has also shared "Ya Heard,""Country Again,""What's Your Country Song?" with fans. Take a listen to "Slow Down Summer" and "Want It Again" below.
