Adele To Release New Music In 2020

The 59th Annual Grammy Awards

Adele is returning with new music this year!

The Grammy-winning recording artist will finally be delivering new material following the release of her widely-acclaimed album, 25, the Daily Mail learned via reports from Music Week. Both Adele’s agent and manager, Lucy and Jonathan Dickins, reportedly confirmed the news on Saturday (January 18), with Jonathan alluding to Music Week that the next era of Adele was approaching fast. “The sooner the better,” he teased.

It was previously speculated that Adele was plotting her comeback in October 2019 after a cryptic tweet seemed to hint at her return. “@Adele will release her NEW ALBUM on Nov 8th 2019, according to Showbiz! This means that her lead single will drop as soon as next week,” Music News Facts reported at the time, which turned out to be false after all.

The 31-year-old’s last album released in November 2015, spawning singles like, “Send My Love,” “Water Under the Bridge,” and “When We Were Younger.”

Speculations of Adele’s long-awaited comeback have been swirling since the superstar split with her husband of three years, Simon Konecki, in April 2019. The couple, who co-parent their 7-year-old son, Angelo, proceeded with their divorce filings later that year.

As for the tone of the vocalist’s next record, it’s been rumored she’ll be reflecting on her recent trials. Last September, it was speculated Adele already had an “upbeat” breakup record in the chamber, with more in the works. "She is definitely getting ready both mentally and physically to promote new music. It seems it will happen later this year," a source told PEOPLE at the time. "She talks about last year as a very difficult year, and she's said in the past that creating new music is almost like therapy. You can tell that she is ready to share with her fans."
