Blake Shelton Says He Is "Happy To Record" Faith-Filled Songs

Blake Shelton knows how to turn on the wit and charm as he sits in the judges' chair on NBC's 'The Voice,' and his uncensored shows are often the talk of the town for years to come. In a recent interview with Cody Alan, Blake openly discussed a topic that has been repeatedly heard in his music, but not as much in his interviews: his spiritual faith.

"The older I get, I'm totally open and happy to talk about it, and because of that, it ends up in my music a lot. You know?" says Blake with a sincere smile. "Whether it's just a mention, like in "God's Country," or something more specific like, "Jesus Got A Tight Grip," I don't know that [faith based] songs have gone away, but maybe they're not heard as much in country music as they used to be."

"But, you know what? I'm happy to record those songs," says Blake.

"Jesus Got A Tight Grip" is Blake's newest faith-based anthem that examines God's everlasting love and endless grace. The mid-tempo country tune hit radio just on the heels of the number 1 smash hit, "God's Country," and served as a follow up to his duet with Trace Adkins, "Hell Right." Blake has also recorded other faith-based songs like "Savior's Shadow" and "God Gave Me You," which were both well received by country audiences.

Keep raising hell, Blake. Listen to “Jesus Got a Tight Grip” below.

LYRICS:

Well I ain't never been an angel // I ain't never been called a saint

Yeah, I've decorated every bar in town // With a big red coat of paint

But good thing I had a good raisin' // For all the hell I've raised since then

When that roll is called up yonder // I know they've gonna let me in
