Kelsea Ballerini Fought To Find Herself Again

Kelsea Ballerini delivered a vulnerable message in her new single, "Homecoming Queen," which was released on Sept. 6th. In a recent interview with Cody Alan, Kelsea shared that the emotional song has an even deeper message that began with her smash hit, "Miss Me More."

"I think, you know, my first record, and even "Legends" and "Love Songs," they were such like flirty romanticized stories and really young. And I think that "Miss Me More" was… a more mature perspective."

Kelsea is known for her vibrant personality and happy, glittery, bold, sass, but she acknowledges that there is another side to life that she needs to be willing to open up about. Kelsea found strength after a breakup in songwriting.

"I really had to fight to find myself after this relationship," she says. "And seeing that song be my biggest song, and seeing how well it was received especially with young girls made me think, "Oh, alright. I need to go down that route more and dig into myself a little bit more and not be scared to put that side of me out."
