Thomas Rhett + Rhett Akins Duet 1st Song They Ever Wrote Together

Father’s Day is Sunday, and Thomas Rhett is living his best life balancing his country music career and being a father of two beautiful girls.

However, twenty-two years ago, Thomas was merely seven years old and taking his first steps toward being a country star just like his father Rhett Akins by writing a song together.

In a recent interview with Cody Alan, TR threw it back to the early days that not only inspired his current album, ‘Center Point Road,’ but also, the early days of learning to play guitar and write songs.

“I think I was about 15 when I first really picked up the guitar,” shared Thomas. “Dad taught me G, C, D. the three chords that you absolutely have to know if you want to play country songs. And I remember the first song I ever learned to play, besides smoke on the water, was 3 A.M by matchbox 20.”

“My dad and I wrote our first song at seven years old. We wrote a song about building a guitar, and it was terrible. It’s on YouTube. You should find it. It’s hilarious.”

Well, we found it and TR wasn't wrong. Its pretty hilarious. Watch the video below to see this father-son duo perform a snippet of the track together during Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival in Nashville, TN.
