Dierks Bentley is turning his sorrow into a smile.
The country star took a trip to the American Red Cross on Wednesday (Oct. 4) to donate blood with his fiddle player and friend Dan.
The visit, Dierks says, brought out his “first smile in two days thanks to being around other donors and great people.” The tragedy in Las Vegas is still heavy on the hearts of Dierks and the rest of the country music community.

“I haven’t really been able to function at all since the shooting. such deep sorrow. sadness. heavy and dark,” he captions his photo from the Red Cross. “My relationship with country music fans, as well as my band and my crew’s relationship with them, is something we all cherish so deeply. some of those friendships have been forged for well over a decade. my heart breaks over and over again for all those fans in Las Vegas and their families.”
Dierks is taking action in response to the tragedy by donating blood, and other country stars are helping in different ways.

Maren Morris is donating proceeds from her new song “Dear Hate” to the Music City Cares Fund, while Florida Georgia Line have donated $10,000 to the GoFundMe account set up by Steve Sisolak, Clark County Commission Chair from Las Vegas, to raise funds to assist victims.
