Kelly Clarkson delivered a toe-tapping rendition of “Why Don’t We Just Dance” by Josh Turner during her Kellyoke performance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Turner released the country hit on his album Haywire, and it remains one of the top songs of the South Carolina-born country artist’s decades-long career, along with “Your Man,” “Would You Go With Me,” “Hometown Girl,” “Long Black Train,” and others. Turner posted his latest sneak peek on Tuesday morning (April 23) teasing his next single that’s set to release.
“It’s hard to keep it cool with my new single ‘Heatin’ Things Up’ coming out this Friday (April 26),” Turner, who congratulated Scotty McCreery on becoming the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry over the weekend, wrote in his caption on Instagram as he revealed a snippet of the unreleased song.
“Baby, why don't we just turn that TV off?/ Three hundred fifteen channels of nothing but bad news on/ Well, it might be me but the way I see it/ The whole wide world has gone crazy/ So baby, why don't we just dance?/ Just a little bitty living room, ain't gonna look like much/ But when the lights go down and we move the couch/ It's gonna be more than enough/ For my two left feet snd our two hearts beatin’/ Nobody's gonna see us go crazy/ So baby, why don't we just dance?/ Down the hall, maybe straight up the stairs?/ Bouncing off the wall, floating on air/ Baby, why don't we just dance?”
“Why Don’t We Just Dance” is the latest country anthem Clarkson has covered o The Kelly Clarkson Show’s Kellyoke segment, which features the original American Idol champ’s performances of her original songs and covers spanning genres and decades. Previously, Clarkson has covered hits by Keith Urban, Maren Morris, Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, Kylie Morgan, Jackson Dean, Hank Williams Jr., Keith Whitley and others.
