Report: Luke Bryan May Join American Idol Reboot

Huntin’, fishin’ and judgin’ every day.

According to new report in The Hollywood Reporter, Luke Bryan is in the running to become a judge on ABC’s revival of American Idol.

The country superstar is said to be an option for producers because the network already has a strong connection to country music and is home to the CMA Awards.

Another name being tossed into the mix of potential judges has a strong connection with Luke. Lionel Richie, who is reportedly the more favorite contender for a spot on the panel, happens to share a CMT Music Awards trophy with Luke for their performance of “Oh No/All Night Long” at the 2014 CMT Artists of the Year.

Will their connection grow deeper on American Idol?

Pop star Charlie Puth is also rumored to be under consideration by Idol producers but is said to be the least likely option among the three.

While Katy Perry has already been announced as the anchor judge for the reboot, the remaining judges are expected to be announced soon, as auditions are slated to begin August 17, in Florida.

Ryan Seacrest will host the new American Idol, which is set to premiere on ABC in 2018.
